Good ol fashioned comedy.
I know it’s all fun and jokes but I’m curious to how one dresses “white”? Lmao I didn’t know the ability to put yourself together or look nice had a race. 😬
It might be funny, but does what he jokes about - white churches getting the minorities involved - really happen where you go? If so, please give your church a shout out here in the thread. I've been to dozens and dozens of mostly white churches and rarely seen this happen, except in some mainline churches. But his audience appears to be evangelicals.
Me: *watches* My two brain cells: *theres a black church?*
This dude is so funny. He was speaking truth
We have a good mix at our church and this is spot on...lol
😂😂😂😂
In Australia our African population has just come in the last 20 years, so their churches are similar to the those in Africa, far more energetic and longer than white Aussie churches. They often ask visitors to stand up and introduce themselves. (As a white visitor I can't hide in the crowd).
Heck so long as we trying to live for Jesus 😂
My white church gets CRAZy there is running jumping fainting from gods move. This kinda hurt my feelings because my church is not like this and i dont’t want it to look like white ppl dont prais
This is actually very interesting 🤔. Take everything you said and switch it around and this video would be canceled.
Omg the balls!!! So great though! Good luck with all the offended snowflakes ❄️❄️❄️🤣🤣
What about Hispanic churches
was this at Tempe Improv
Brave man!!! I’m dying 😂😂😂😂
I notice that black people will integrate a white church and just be in the minority, serve under white leadership and ministerswith no problems. I rarely see white families attending majority black congregations with black leadership and then see the white members numbers increase to integrate the black church.
As a black person I keep seeing people talk about how this can get you cancelled. I don't understand why people think that. He's not saying anything derogatory about black people, more so how White people act. So who would be canceling him? Sometimes it seems people say that to invalidate the times when racists actually get called out
Too funny. It can be fun but awkward too. When my husband was in college, he attended a white church that had the Confederate flag in the pulpit seriously. Then they told him they could tell him apart from the other "ones". He's light skinned. Super awkward.
Oh my... that would be awkward.
🤣🤣🤣 this is so accurate about white churches
I love black church.
Please pray for continual peace and joy and uplifting encouragement in my relationship with my girlfriend, also for us to seek the Lord more! In Jesus mighty and matchless name!
Maybe different for black men in white churches but in my church the women did not promote me or recommend me to do anything. I was a whole elected official and was never asked to lead any ministry ever.
@April Brobston thanks April, I've always wondered. It honestly hurt. I was there for 3 years and never asked to lead or present or even do the welcome. It really bothered me but I felt i was to not complain. Thanks for responding
Just throwing it out there. A lot of women are insecure with competition? Sexy women?
💯💯💯..u sat on da front....lol
Protestants are weird..
We need you. So glad you are back!! 😂
John is slowly turning into the Christian version of Andrew Schulz 😅
Except minorities are really the majority.
"you sat in the front this ain't my fault" lmbo 😂🤣😂
I have so many mixed feelings I don’t know if I should laugh or punch you lolol
U got to post more standup clips u funny af
I went to a mixed Church with a black preacher and it was my favorite, would still be there but I moved. They moved in the gifts and the worship was AWESOME! The audience was asked a few times "Can I get an Amen?" and I was happy to give the preacher an Amen. I mean they are like free to give out and all.
Wow. That was pretty funny! Saw you in Saginaw a couple years back. I counted 8 jokes that I had heard from other comedians. This was pretty good, good for you :)
john, tell me please we're you the weatherman? WERE YOU?
They say Jesus on Sunday and then on Tuesday vote for the Devil.
@cynthiaholland13 orange man bad!
Oh my goodness so true. Trump is their God lol
So im asian and I go to a black church. They basically adopted us. Its just a vibe there and i barely fall asleep there too
LOL
😂😂
All so very true. Awesome
So funny, as always
As someone who goes to a white church, this has my stamp of approval.
So glad I go to a multi-National church. Pastor is from Kenya and married founding pastor’s daughter from Nebraska. We celebrate the diversity and it’s so cool to see all the cultures together! Check out Lincoln City Church on AMwine!
Ouch. Stole a South Park joke. Not sure if you realize it or not
Ive been a member of an all black church and loved it, never felt unwelcome, one thing I learned about Black church is you better clear your schedule because you never know when its going to be over, We would sometimes have Praise and worship sessions that were supposed be 3 or 4 songs but everyone would just get so wrapped up in worshipping God and dancing that it could go on for an hour or two depending on the day.
Why is the church still segregated anyway?
@Ella A and the culture is from the slavery days which led to the segregation of the service
It’s really not, it’s just more based on culture. The black community does church different than then white people, but a lot of white people who enjoy their style of worship go to typically “black churches”
Because that's the most segregated hour in America from slavery until now.
Style of worship. Could be the loudness or too quiet. Moving around too much or sitting still. Loud preachers or quiet ones. Many churches are integrated. I am in the south and we have a Spanish church part and many nationalities attend.
Superb.
Ahem...” ‘historically’ black church” how insensitive of you.
Still got it man, 2020 didn't ruin you
Hence the mixed kids on my profile lol
I understand all of this
As a black person this is so true lol good job John
Black persons here: this is hilarious lol
Bruh they had me doing announcements day 1 lol love it.
Hahahah
The way you "cancel" a comedian: Don't laugh.
0:29 Bruh that's all Latino churches too no cap
John, you are brave. But this is absolutely the truth! 😂 My family and I laugh so hard when we watch your videos and we’re so happy you’re back!! By far our favorite comedian - you’re amazing 👏🏼
I go to a megachurch. I am the only black person in my Sunday school class. But that's normally the case. Almost every church that I have been to. I have been one of the only black people in the church.
SOOO is he saying at a White church black people have Privilege based on their Blackness? Sounds racists to me.
@April Brobston No I'm not joking. If you think this is funny that's pretty sad. If my pastor did this to someone in the congregation based on the person's skin I would have to question his or her motivation.
Not sure if you are joking? So, I’ll just throw this out there. Some white folks are so grateful to be trusted by a black person, they celebrate it by inviting them to participate instead of waiting. It’s supposed to feel good, warm, inviting and inclusive not offensive. Like a new in-law or family member. Trying to be friends needn’t be so awkward or scary.
@Charles Because they are black.
No, he is saying that most white churches have very few minorities, so if a person from a minority background comes into the church, they are pushed into public ministries to make it very apparent that there are minorities there.
Penguins On The Moon 🐧
In my experience, it's only white people who think they are woke who get upset at this type of thing (and a few overly zealous woke black people). Most of us just want to be treated as human and not like we're foreigners or like we have leprosy or something. My most cringe white people moments are when they say things like "you speak good English" or "I never met a doctor who was...you know". Lol it's like saying black is a swear word or something. Or when people call me African-American to be polite, even though as far back as I can trace in my lineage all my relatives lived their whole lives in America, yet at the same time their father or grandfather immigrated from Italy and half their family still speaks a foreign language. It don't upset me it's just awkward and cringe.
Thank you for sharing this
😂 😂 😂 💯
LMAO true though.
Sit up front? Nope! I’ll watch from the bathroom 😂
This is so true about white church from what I experience. I'm Latino and I thought I was going to be uncomfortable attending a white church but they were very welcoming. Within few weeks I was helping with the youth and worship group. I was also giving Spanish lessons because they wanted to learn it.
The online church that I go to is mixed, I couldn't figure out if it was a white or black church, until the preacher talked about diversity, and that God is the god of diversity.
Very funny.
Nice clean humor.
How do you not have 1 million subscribers yet?!
I've gone to church my whole life and have gone to a few black churches. I dressed nice, but I felt underdressed. They didn't pass an offering plate, you got up, (following some specific path that everyone seemed to know from separate sides of the church), and went UP to the front to give. Then it was COUNTED on the spot and the pastor said it wasn't enough money for the guest speaker so they had offering AGAIN!
This made me laugh... some churches are like this... thank God we don't do that
Im black and extremely churchy and have Never heard of that. That's insane. Hilarious but yikes!!
This is crazy hilarious
😂 I'm black and that's hilarious.
That sounds about right 😂😂 Church of God Christ probably.
This is the John Crist I miss.
Gonna get canceled again 😆
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I need to go to Nashville just to be able to see you in a local club.
Funny!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Dawg im a victim of this lmboo
So much truth packed into one small set. I love black church’s they don’t love me and we absolutely welcome anyone in our church and get them plugged right in 💕
This is a underrated comment. Should be highlighted. Thank you @ Covet Girl
Also I would like to make a correction, you said that you all (I’m guessing you are referring to your ministry) welcome everyone one and I said “them”. I would like to just say, and this is just meant to be something to consider, but even in that you make it seem like you are a better Christian than black Christians because you feel like they don’t like you and you are generalizing a whole entire group. I would just say as Christians, instead of patting ourselves on the back to say I’m a better Christian, maybe take the time to talk to the people you feel don’t like you and understand with God’s heart, where they are coming from and what God wants you to do with that wisdom. I think a hilarious joke will always make you lol, but a really good one will make you think after the laugh. Once more just a thought.
I was reading through the comments and yours struck me the most. As I listened to John, I laughed because it has so much truth, but after the laughter, did you or anyone else stop to consider what he is saying? You said, that you love black churches but they don’t love you and that you get them plugged in right away at your church, but I think a good question to ask is why? Why do you feel the need to plug someone in your church who is different from you so immediately? I say this because I’ve seen it first hand, they plug you in as soon as you get through the door. It is like you guys want to be seen as so diversified and so open to different people, but you don’t really take the time to get to know them, know what their true talents are and how they can truly contribute to your church and grow in their capabilities. With regards to black churches, I don’t know your experience, but why do you feel they don’t like you? Is it because so many white people, most of the time, go to a black church to get the “black experience”. They don’t really see it as a church where people go to worship the same God they do, just in a different more exuberant way. It’s like going to some exotic place to visit and look at with wonder and curiousity. No, when you go into a black church, they may not plug you in right away, because they are actually trying to get to know you and trying to know if your intentions are genuine. That doesn’t mean that they don’t greet you or speak to you and welcome you in, because they do, but if you feel like they didn’t like you because they didn’t immediately say be our ministry leader or join the band, whatever, you really are missing the point and choosing to see it as bad. Why do a lot of white churches feel the need to plug in people who are different, so quickly? I am genuinely interested to know. It seems so nice and sweet but what is the intention behind it? I pose that question to ask, is it because they are black and you want to feel better about yourself in the world to say that you are not like other people so let’s put them in, without really taking the time to get to know them? Are their qualifications to be there, in that position, is the difference of who they are? Are you truly saying to the person, you pull into your church, “You are getting this because you are different” because that is not right either. Just like John pointed out as a joke, but it is so true because I have seen it happen, “hey play the bass” “but I don’t know how to” “it doesn’t matter, just join.” You say you don’t see color, but it really is the first thing you see and he is so clearly pointing that out. Are you guys doing what you do because you genuinely believe in the person, or are they just a means to create an image you want to have? I just wish we could all be truly honest with ourselves and maybe true healing g can take place and not just ignoring things and pretending everything is fine, instead of looking at the intention of our hearts. Just a thought.
I feel I understand, but then in reality I don't, because I only know what I see from the movies and other videos. I've only ever been to Hispanic churches lol.
classic lol
I attended a predominantly black church 4 years as the only white guy there. Best experience ever, I was made very welcomed even though I looked like Forrest Gump trying to sway to the music haha! By the way, I LOVE when the worship and preaching mix!
@SpiritLife Yes. Interesting. God is Good Romans 8:28
@Bruce7 nice! By the way, is your first name Bruce? Mine is. In fact it's Bruce Wham (actual last name believe it or not!)
@Ella A yes! Is-RYE-el!!
Black churches, imo, just do church right. It’s not a lot of ho hum, it’s dynamic and alive and you can’t help but feel changed. (Also if you pronounce it IsRYEel I automatically love you)
I've attended some as well. Strong Spirit there. One where all the Usher Ladies wore long formal/evening gloves.
John, your improv game is solid! Nice to see you riffing with the crowd!
Thank you, John, for not bowing your knee to cancel culture. There is so much humor when we all lay down our defenses and just laugh at ourselves. Hilarious bit!
Amen!
Oh what we need is laughter! 😄Thank you John!
He needs prayers. He stumbled. Hope he has righted himself with God.
I love this lol
He aint wrong 🤣
"You sat up front it's not my fault." Be careful when you sit up front at a comedy show kids.
Yeah I’ve made that mistake
Funny that ppl are talking about cancel culture but NO ONE is trying to cancel him. Lighten up... leave politics out.....no one was offended...sheesh!
@cynthiaholland13 yeah they laughed and said so true.
@Sister Peter you're Philipino I assume? If not check with your Philipino friends and ask them how it comes across and then. . Believe them
@stepgirl305 oh I agree with you but I was pointing out that they already tried to cancel him so good luck trying again. Also I wish uptight hysterical people would calm down and just laugh at our stereotypes. I once got chastised for saying that you always make sure to invite a Phillipino to a potluck so that you never have to worry about running out of food. I meant it a light hearted compliment and was called a racist.
@Sister Peter I'm talking about as it relates to this joke. I don't think anyone is mad at him talking about white vs black church and their acceptance of the opposite race. It's just jokes, he didn't say anything wrong, he wasn't malicious, and no one is mad. So we can all laugh without fear of cancel culture.
No they tried to about a year ago.
This reminds me of in the heat of the night. When the sherif is asked to endorse a church and he says no to him black girlfriend. They are trying to get black people to come to a new church if I remember right. “I believe the people don’t want to go because it’s boring. The pastor has them falling asleep, you can’t fall asleep at a black church. They’re up and down, singing and clapping. I don’t believe the sherif should endorse a church but if I did it’s be the first African American church of Sparta Mississippi.”
They’re jokes!!! I love his humor cuz it’s true. I love white church but yes they love minorities, you will be helping out in some capacity
“You sat up front, it’s not my fault” hah
🤣🤣🤣🤣
John, you forgot to ask about her hat!!!
Maybe you should edit the title? 😬 But funny!
This was crazy funny😂 you were brave indeed and I like it
What a madlad
This was like watching a Black comedian interact with a biracial couple, but in reverse.🤣🤣🤣 Love John Crist...
Huh
Right?! He's awesome
Y'all know there was a crowd with black people because you heard the WHOOOO at the end pf the laughing. 😂
I grew up Baptist in CA...and then I went to my grandmother's Baptist church in the south...and I couldn't figured out WHY the white preacher was talking like a black person. I...then I grew up and realized the majority of Baptist churches in the south were black. Blew my mind. We're a black church but we're not.
I'm not sorry...this was funny!! 😂😂
😂 man i love this dude!!! Thank you for being you too. I miss these jokes
White church: likes 1776 commission. all lives matter! Black church: just wants to sing some gospel
😂😂😂😂
Crist kills it every time
